Q: What is The Quarry?
A: The Quarry is an all-new teen-horror narrative game, where every decision shapes your unique story from a tangled web of possibilities. Any character can be the star of the show - or die - before daylight comes. Take control of nine camp counselors and, using your wits in conversation and reflexes during action, do everything you can to steer them away from—or directly into—danger.
Q: Who is developing The Quarry?
A: The Quarry is being developed by Will Byles and the award-winning team at Supermassive Games that created Until Dawn.
Q: Which platforms will The Quarry be available on?
A: The Quarry will launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC via Steam.
Q: Does The Quarry feature any multiplayer modes?
A: Yes! The Quarry offers multiple ways for you to experience the fright with friends. You can play the game solo, or with up to seven other companions in local couch co-op with each player controlling a counselor's actions. In addition, The Quarry features an exciting online mode where you and your friends can watch along and vote on key decisions, creating a story shaped by the whole group!
Console players: Note that online multiplayer is only supported across the same PlayStation/Xbox generations (PS4 to PS4, PS5 to PS5, Xbox One to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S to Xbox Series X|S). If you buy the Deluxe Edition you'll have access to both previous- and new-generation versions of the game (within the same console family) and can choose which one to launch in order to play with friends.
Q: What's included in The Quarry Deluxe Edition?
A: In addition to the full game, the Deluxe Edition includes:
- Horror History Visual Filter Pack
- Gorefest option in Movie Mode
- Instant access to Death Rewind system
- '80s Throwback character outfits
Q: What is the Horror History Visual Filter Pack?
A: Tailor the aesthetic of The Quarry to your liking by choosing from three cinematic visual filters, each replicating a different era and style of iconic horror filmmaking! Choose from an 8mm-style film grain (Indie Horror), a retro VHS aesthetic ('80s Horror), or the classic black-and-white cinematic filter (Classic Horror).
Q: What is the Gorefest option in Movie Mode?
A: Press play, sit back, and indulge in the most gruesome, gory, splatter-filled version of The Quarry. For fans of grindhouse grotesqueries: an abundance of death, dismemberment, and buckets of blood await in this brutal option for Movie Mode.
Q: What is the Death Rewind system?
A: Death Rewind is a retry mechanic that normally unlocks after your first completion of The Quarry. Start the story with three opportunities to reverse a playable character's death, giving you a chance to alter fate and save them in the process. But with only three retries per playthrough, you'll have to decide when someone's life is truly worth saving, and the undoing of one horrible end may lead to another. Choose wisely.
Q: What are the '80s Throwback character outfits?
A: Send the camp counselors' looks back in time! This retro pack includes new ‘80s-inspired cosmetic character outfits for The Quarry’s playable characters.
Q: If I buy The Quarry on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, will I have access to the new-gen version of the game for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S as well?
A: No. Buying The Quarry digitally or on physical disc for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One only grants that version of the game. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of The Quarry are playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S respectively through backward compatibility.
Q: If I buy The Quarry on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, will I have access to the previous-gen version of the game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?
A: No. The new-generation version of The Quarry is only playable on new-generation consoles. If you're looking to play The Quarry on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you should purchase the game on that platform or purchase the Deluxe Edition.
Q: If I buy the Deluxe Edition of The Quarry, do I get access to both previous- and new-gen versions of The Quarry?
A: Yes. The Deluxe Edition of The Quarry includes both previous- and new-gen versions of the game on that console platform. Both versions of the game are entitled to the same Xbox network account or PlayStation Network account.
Q: If I own The Quarry on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, is there an upgrade to receive the game on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S?
A: Yes. If you own a digital version of The Quarry for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One you can purchase the Digital Upgrade to provide access to the new-gen version within the same console family and entitled to the same Xbox network or PlayStation Network account.
If you own a physical version of The Quarry for PlayStation 4 you have the option to purchase the PS5 Digital Upgrade if you own a PlayStation 5 with a disc drive. The PlayStation 4 The Quarry disc must be inserted into the PlayStation 5 whenever playing the new-gen digital version of the game.
Q: If I own a physical version of The Quarry for Xbox One, can I purchase the Xbox Series X|S Digital Upgrade to receive the game on Xbox Series X|S?
A: No. If you own a physical version of The Quarry for Xbox One and want to play the Xbox Series X|S version you'll need to purchase the new-gen version of the game separately.
Q: Will The Quarry support cross-gen saves?
A: No. If you own both previous- and new-generation console versions of The Quarry, which are included in the Deluxe Edition, the saves for each version are distinct.
Q: What did the July update bring to The Quarry?
A: The latest update to The Quarry adds several important new features and fixes, including:
- Added the new online multiplayer mode, “Wolf Pack”, an invite-only mode where the host can invite up to seven friends with access to the game to vote on key decisions to create a story shaped by the whole group
- '80s Throwback Character Outfits DLC now available for owners of the Deluxe Edition of The Quarry, and are available for separate purchase
- Fixes for "Hard Pass" and "Should've Gone to the Motel" Achievements/Trophies
- Renamed Streamer Mode to Alternate Music
- Adjustments and fixes to Death Rewind
- Several additional general fixes to the game
Q: Why is Streamer Mode now called Alternate Music?
A: Our goal with Streamer Mode was to provide a simple and streamlined way for players to create content for The Quarry that included music. Due to evolving standards and practices with how licensed music is implemented and tracked across games and content, this wasn’t the case at launch and we decided to switch the name to "Alternate Music" to better set expectations for our streaming community. We also recommend adding “The Quarry” in their video/streaming headline to help avoid any issues.
Q: Does Wolf Pack mode require everyone to own The Quarry?
A: Wolf Pack supports online play for up to seven players with access to the game.
Q: Is multiplayer cross-platform/cross-generation?
A: No, multiplayer functionality is only available on the same generation and platform.
Q: Can I pair the English audio with my language's subtitles?
A: Yes! This is a feature introduced as part of the August 9 Update. To pair English audio and voiceovers with region-specific language subtitles, go to the Main Menu, then Settings, then Audio and toggle "Enable English Dialogue."
